Advanced Production Ensemble
Advanced Production is the studio's
internationally acclaimed teen performance company. They have competed and
performed in various venues across California, Oregon, Washington, Florida and Europe,
have won numerous awards for dance excellence annually since 1989, are
nationally ranked and have appeared in Dance Spirit
and Dance Teacher magazines. In 2002,
competing against 95 other entries from the US, Canada and Mexico, the company
earned the highest honor at LA Danceforce's International Finals and the title
"Performers of the Year" for their
mastery of technique, performance quality, style and choreographic excellence.
In 2003 and in 2007, the
group performed across Austria, Europe representing American Youth Dance on a
12-day summer tour with the esteemed Tanzsomer Dance Festival.
In July of 2004, Advanced Production captured a coveted spot in
the televised Co Dance Championship filmed at
MGM Studios in Disney World, earning Platinum for their
piece, "Yacht Club" (choreographer, Gregg Russell).
All That Jazz Advanced Production returned in July 2008 as National Winners with two Second-Place-in-the-Nation titles for their Division at the Co.Dance Disney World Finals Championships!
Advanced
Production is under the direction of Karen Daggett Austin.
Advanced Production auditions are held the first or
second Saturday in June each year. Those auditioning must be entering the
9th-12th grades in coming fall , and have previously trained at the
intermediate-advanced levels in jazz, ballet and hip hop to
qualify. Email the studio for audition specifics and an FAQ sheet about the
group.
Intermediate Production Ensemble
Intermediate Production consists of
dancers in the 6th through 8th grades. They have performed and competed
throughout Oregon and Washington in schools, on stage in concert work, and at
national dance conventions. In 2002 the group captured the High Score Overall
award for their performance of the hip hop piece, "Bill
Hilly" (choreography by Kyle Sorensen and Karen Daggett),
at the New York City Dance Alliance National Convention. In
2004 and 2008, the group performed in Disney World in Orlando and captured
several gold awards for performance excellence at the Co. Dance Finals.
Intermediate Production is under the direction of Sabina Hillman.
Auditions will be held for Intermediate Production the same day as Advanced auditions each year. (see above)
Audition Specifics
- previous dance training in ballet/jazz/hip hop is required at the appropriate levels for each group

At
the audition, participants will learn a dance combination and a
technical/ballet combination across the floor, then be adjudicated in
groups of 3-4. Wear your hair back, dance shoes or lyric sandals, jazz
or yoga pants (lycra hot pants are okay too) and a snug t shirt. Bring
your completed application. An ensemble contract outlining the groups'
travel/competition/performance and fee comittments for the upcoming
year will need to be signed by both the dancer and parent if selected.
